What disqualifies you

The rules people find out about after the work is done.

  • Adaptations completed before BC Housing approves them, except emergency adaptations needed before a hospital release, installed within four months of it.

Where the application goes

Applications are taken first-come, first-served, complete ones first, from 1 April until the year's funding runs out.

The thing most pages get wrong

BC Housing's own documents disagree on work done before approval. The homeowner page: "Adaptations completed before approval from BC Housing are not eligible", with an exception for emergencies before a hospital release. The maximum rebate schedule: "Adaptations completed prior to receiving BC Housing approval may be eligible." Get approval first.

Frozen until after the election

BC Housing has suspended website updates for the provincial election: "Content is current as of September 22, 2026." Changes, if any, will appear after 24 October.
