GoGreen Home Energy Financing open

Administered by the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA), in the State Treasurer's Office.

A loan, not a rebate: state-backed financing from ten credit unions for energy upgrades, up to $50,000 over 15 years, or $75,000 over 20 years with solar and batteries, with no property lien. Households in priority communities with incomes up to $150,000 can borrow up to $30,000 for a heat pump at 0%.

What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

Nothing is given to you. This is borrowing, repaid with interest, except for the heat pump offer below. The state backs the lenders with a loss reserve, which is why the rates and terms beat an ordinary unsecured loan.

What the participating lenders offered on 24 September 2026
ProjectUp toTermAPR range
Energy upgrades$50,00015 years3.24% to 10.00%
Solar with battery storage$75,00020 years3.58% to 10.24%
Heat pump, priority communities$30,00010 years at 0%, 15 years at 2%0% or 2%

Each credit union sets its own rate within its range, by term and credit score, and some lend only in certain counties. Up to 30% of a loan can go to non-energy improvements.

The 0% heat pump offer needs all three

The thing most pages get wrong

"0% heat pump financing" is headlined, but it comes from only two of the ten lenders, only for heat pumps, only up to $30,000, and only at addresses in the state's priority communities. Everyone else pays the lender's rate, which on 24 September 2026 ran from 3.24% to 10.00% for the same upgrades, so the lender you pick matters more than the program.
