Duke Energy Improve & Save (North Carolina) open

Administered by Duke Energy, in North Carolina.

Duke Energy's on-bill financing for upgrades in North Carolina: a free audit, work by a Duke trade ally, and a monthly charge on the electric bill at a fixed 7.48% for 10 years. The charge stays with the home when you move, missed payments can lead to disconnection, and homes heated by gas are not eligible.

The thing most pages get wrong

A home energy site gives Improve & Save's rate as 7.33%. Duke's page says the current rate is 7.48%, fixed for the 10-year term.

The charge stays with the house

If you move out, the payments pass to the next account holder at the home, and unpaid charges are treated like an unpaid electric bill, including disconnection. The agreement can be assigned to later owners.

What 'save up to' means is not stated

Duke's cards say each upgrade can save up to $1,050 to $5,613 and never say over what period or against what. It can be combined with Smart $aver, but only one incentive per piece of equipment.
