What disqualifies you

The rules people find out about after the work is done.

  • Leased or lease-to-own equipment.

The thing most pages get wrong

GreyStone's rebate requirements page lists only the gas-to-electric water heater rebates, $400 and $200. Its rebates page adds the larger propane-to-electric ones, $500 and $300, that the requirements page leaves out.

Insulate first, or no rebate

The heat pump rebate needs R-30 in the attic and double-pane or storm windows already in place, so an older house may need that work before it qualifies.

The opposite of the gas company

Atlanta Gas Light pays up to $1,000 to replace a heat pump with a gas furnace; GreyStone pays $600 to replace gas heat with a heat pump, in overlapping territory.
