Hilo smart thermostats on the Flex D rate open

Administered by Hilo, a Hydro-Québec subsidiary, with Hydro-Québec's Flex D rate.

Hydro-Québec's winter offer: move to the Flex D rate and get Hilo smart thermostats installed for $0, which lower your heating during up to 30 peak events a winter. The $0 is a credit that runs down over 12 months, and the unpaid balance becomes due if you quit or override 10 or more events.

The thing most pages get wrong

"Thermostats intelligents Hilo à 0 $" is a credit, not a gift. Hilo's agreement says the credit balance falls in equal monthly amounts over twelve months, and the remaining balance "devient immédiatement exigible" [becomes due immediately] if you end the agreement or turn off Hilo's automation during 10 or more peak events in a winter within the first 12 months.

A rate, not a rebate

Flex D charges more for power during peak events and less the rest of the winter. The thermostats are the part that is an upgrade; the savings depend on letting them work.
