What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

No amount reaches you. The incentive is paid to the Approved Vendor; what you get is the system with no upfront cost, and payments, if any, capped below the value of what it generates.

2026-27 budget
$8,884,790.74 for small residential projects.
if oversubscribed
Projects are selected on 13 January 2027.
if money is left
A rolling submission window from 12 October 2026 to 31 May 2027.
maintenance
No-cost routine maintenance for 15 years; a 14-day cancellation period.

Who is eligible

income
80% of area median income or less, by HUD area, checked with the program's lookup tool. A landlord can apply for a single-family home if the tenants qualify.
buildings
Single-family homes; in two- to four-unit buildings, at least two units must be income-eligible.
ownership
Bought, leased or on a power purchase agreement. Any payment must stay below the value of what the system generates; the program's example is up to $30 a month on $60 of generation.

Where the application goes

The thing most pages get wrong

The program's residential page, changed in June 2026, still says single-family projects reached capacity in 2025 and residents will likely need to wait for 2026 funding. The 2026-27 window opened on 14 September and closed on 25 September.

The budget figures were wrong

In September 2026 the Power Agency said its program dashboard had contained errors and inaccuracies, and that only $8.9 million was actually available from one of its funds. It had closed the 2025-26 program early in May.
