The thing most pages get wrong

Duke pays more for replacing a system before it fails. A heat pump of 17 SEER2 or more earns $800 as an early replacement but $500 if the old unit has a failed compressor, cracked heat exchanger or large refrigerant leak; the contractor must say which applies, and early replacement needs a signed form.

Electric heat converts at $800

Replacing an electric furnace, baseboard or radiant heat with a heat pump or mini-split of 15.2 SEER2 pays $800 whether or not the old system has failed.

Paid on a card

Duke pays Smart $aver rebates on a prepaid Mastercard, physical or digital, not by check or bill credit.
