Kentucky Weatherization Assistance Program open

Administered by Kentucky Housing Corporation, through Community Action Agencies.

Kentucky Housing Corporation weatherizes homes free for households with income at or below 200% of the poverty level, $66,000 a year for a family of four on the 2026 guidelines, if the home has not been weatherized in the last 15 years. Crews can add insulation, seal air leaks and ducts, repair or replace the furnace, and install air source heat pumps and efficient appliances. Columbia Gas of Kentucky separately replaces failed furnaces free for income-eligible customers.

What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

KHC publishes no per-home maximum. Inspectors audit the home and the community action agency's crew does the work at no cost.

What weatherization can include

  • Energy audit and energy education
  • Air infiltration sealing
  • Insulation in attic, floors and walls
  • Duct repairs
  • Furnace repair or replacement

The thing most pages get wrong

Weatherization in Kentucky is not just caulk and insulation. KHC lists 'Air source heat pumps' and 'High efficiency appliances' among the no-cost services, along with furnace repair or replacement, when the audit calls for them.

A second route for Columbia Gas customers

Columbia Gas of Kentucky's Low-Income Furnace Replacement Program replaces an old, unsafe or non-working gas furnace with a high-efficiency one at no cost for income-eligible customers, through Community Action, while funding lasts. Seniors, medically vulnerable households and families with children get priority.

Once in 15 years

A home weatherized in the last 15 years is not eligible again, so ask about the address's history if you moved in recently.
