Laval oil heating replacement grant open

Administered by the Ville de Laval.

Laval's grant for homes that have replaced oil heating with an all-electric or renewable system: up to $2,000 for a single-family house, half that if the old system was oil dual-energy, for replacements done since 5 September 2017. Laval now taxes oil heating appliances, and replacing oil with gas or propane earns nothing.

The thing most pages get wrong

It is retroactive, and most pages do not say so. A Laval household that replaced its oil furnace with a heat pump any time since 5 September 2017 can still claim. Laval has also adopted by-law L-12964, a tax on oil heating appliances now in force, and Quebec has banned installing oil heating since 31 December 2023.

Uncertified wood stoves banned since 1 October

Since 1 October 2026 Laval has banned using wood appliances that are not certified to the EPA or CSA/B415 standard and emit more than 7.5 grams of fine particles an hour. Its wood appliance grant covered work done by 30 September 2026; claims for that work are accepted until 31 December 2026, with an invoice dated 30 September or earlier.
