MCE heat pump rebates open

Administered by MCE, the community choice aggregator for Contra Costa, Marin, Napa and Solano counties.

Up to $675 toward a heat pump water heater and $400 per 500 square feet toward a heat pump HVAC system, through MCE's participating contractors, for owner-occupied single-family homes. It rules out solar, battery or EV charger installs for 12 months either side.

The thing most pages get wrong

MCE's programs page, last updated in December 2025, still offers "up to $3,175 for installing a heat pump water heater and $2,000 plus $400 per 500 square feet" for heat pump HVAC. Its heat pump rebates page, updated in August 2026, says up to $675 and $400 per 500 square feet. The newer page is recorded here.

The 12-month rule

Planning solar or an EV charger as well? MCE's heat pump rebates are off the table if either was installed in the past 12 months, or is installed in the 12 months after the heat pump.
