What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

SEMCO's residential pages list what qualifies but not how much it pays; the amounts sit behind its online marketplace and application. The only dollar figures on its site are a 2020 contractor flyer.

What SEMCO pays toward

  • Furnaces and boilers
  • Water heaters
  • Insulation
  • Smart thermostats (from $0 through its marketplace)
  • Clothes washers, dryers and dishwashers

The thing most pages get wrong

The SEMCO figures that turn up in searches, furnaces up to $900 and boilers up to $1,600, come from a SEMCO contractor flyer marked '2020 Program Year' that is still on its website. SEMCO's 2026 pages publish no amounts, so check the application before counting on any figure.

Income checks against a list

SEMCO says income-qualified eligibility is currently checked against a SEMCO-provided list of eligible customers, and to contact it if an inquiry is wrongly rejected. Its 250% line comes from Michigan's Public Act 229 of 2023; its table adds $13,750 a person, the 2025 guideline step.

Gas and electric programs stack

SEMCO's rebates follow the gas account. A SEMCO customer whose electricity comes from UPPCO, Consumers or a co-op can also use that utility's electric rebates.
