The thing most pages get wrong

UPPCO's $300 a ton is only the base rate. It adds $100 a ton for HSPF2 above 10, $100 for SEER2 above 21 and $200 for a unit on the NEEP cold-climate list, so a cold-climate heat pump can earn more in bonuses than in base rebate.

MiHER in the U.P.

Michigan's federal rebates began with pilot homes in the Upper Peninsula, and EGLE's Marquette district was open to new income-qualified applications on 2 October 2026, with $595,000 paid out there by August.

Free upgrades

UPPCO also runs an Empower program of free upgrades and home energy education for income-qualified customers; its page gives no amounts.
