Minneapolis Bonus Rebate Program open

Administered by the City of Minneapolis, run by the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE).

Minneapolis adds a bonus to Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy rebates for homes of one to four units in the city: up to $20,000 in Green Zone neighborhoods and $6,000 elsewhere, for insulation, heat pumps, furnaces paired with heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, panels and triple-pane windows completed after 15 December 2025. Funds are first come, first served, and the bonus is paid to the owner after the work.

The thing most pages get wrong

A 2026 contractor guide calls this 'the Green Cost Share program' worth 'up to $5,000, or up to $14,000 in Green Zone neighborhoods'. The city's current bonus program, run by CEE, caps the bonus at $6,000 outside Green Zones and $20,000 inside them.

The utility rebate comes first

Every improvement must qualify for an Xcel or CenterPoint rebate, and the bonus is paid only after the work is finished and documented. A furnace or boiler qualifies only when installed with a qualifying air-source heat pump.

First come, first served

CEE says funds go first come, first served for projects completed after 15 December 2025; apply as soon as the work is done.
