What it pays

The thing most pages get wrong

This closes the federal oil-to-heat-pump route in three of the four Atlantic co-delivery provinces. New Brunswick shut on 30 June 2026 when Ottawa closed registration, Nova Scotia on 2 July 2026 when the money ran out, and PEI gives no date at all. Newfoundland and Labrador is the exception: its Oil to Electric Incentive Program, delivered with federal support, is still taking applications.

And the second thing

Being in the queue is not the same as being finished. efficiencyPEI says many Island households are still in line and that contractors will contact them - so the programme is closed to entry while still owing work to people already accepted.

Why it closed

efficiencyPEI states that applications for free heat pumps and for the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program are closed. The province publishes no closing date for it.

How this was checked

The closure is stated on efficiencyPEI's own heat pumps page, in the same sentence as the free heat pump closure. No separate PEI OHPA page publishes a date.
