Free Home Insulation open

Administered by efficiencyPEI, with the Government of Canada.

Insulation upgrades installed free for lower-income Island homeowners. There is no rebate to claim, no invoice to front and no loan: efficiencyPEI sends an approved contractor and covers the materials. It is the province's answer for households who cannot pre-pay for work and wait to be reimbursed, which is what every rebate programme in Atlantic Canada otherwise asks of you.

What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

There is no ceiling because there is no payment. The province supplies the contractor and the materials and pays them directly, so what you get is the work rather than an amount.

The thing most pages get wrong

Two gates, not one. Most income-tested programmes ask only what the household earns; this one also asks what the house is worth, and a home assessed above $300,000 is refused however little its owner earns. B.C.'s Energy Savings Program has a property-value line too, and it is four times higher.

And the second thing

Wait for approval before any work starts. efficiencyPEI says plainly that upgrades done before approval will not be refunded.

Status note

Funded in partnership with the federal Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program and PEI's Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy. It is one of the few live provincial routes into that federal money anywhere in the dataset.
