PG&E Generator and Battery Rebate open

Administered by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).

$300 toward a portable generator or a small portable battery, plus $200 more on the CARE or FERA discount, for PG&E customers in high fire-threat areas or on circuits with enhanced safety settings. Apart from electric vehicle offers and a link to the ended Golden State Rebates, it is the only rebate PG&E's rebates page names.

What disqualifies you

The rules people find out about after the work is done.

  • A battery over 1,000 Wh. PG&E calls it a strict limit.
  • Resale, refurbished, open-box, rented or leased products, and USB power banks, inverters and car batteries.
  • Applying before the product has been delivered.

The thing most pages get wrong

PG&E's rebates page names no rebate of its own for heat pumps, insulation or water heaters: only this, electric vehicle rebates, and a link to Golden State Rebates, which has ended. Its help answer on water heater rebates points to a product guide, with no amount. In PG&E territory the home-upgrade money comes from the state programs, the Bay Area's regional network and the community choice aggregators.

Not a home battery rebate

The 1,000 Wh limit rules out whole-home batteries. For those, the only rebate left is SGIP's equity budget, for low-income homes.
