What disqualifies you
The rules people find out about after the work is done.
- Work started before the eligibility certificate is issued.
- A contractor without a Régie du bâtiment du Québec licence.
Where the application goes
Through your MRC or municipality. An accredited inspector visits and lists the work, you get bids from licensed contractors, and the eligibility certificate sets the maximum grant; the work must be done within twelve months.

The thing most pages get wrong
Trois-Rivières tells its residents RénoRégion is suspended. Its page, updated 4 August 2026, lists the programme under the notice that the SHQ "suspendait tous ses programmes à compter du 1er avril 2025" [was suspending all its programmes from 1 April 2025]. The SHQ's own page carries no suspension, and a new framework was approved on 7 May 2025 with income levels in force from 17 July 2026. Older SHQ notices still quote the old maximum of $12,000.
It has an end date
The 2025-2027 framework "prend fin le 31 mars 2027" [ends on 31 March 2027], and the government may end it sooner. It applies to files whose eligibility certificate was not issued by 31 March 2025.
