Energy Assistance Program open

Administered by SaskPower, delivered by CLEAResult, with the Government of Canada, the City of Saskatoon and Swift Current Light and Power.

SaskPower's free visit for income-qualified households: a home energy coach installs LED bulbs, a block heater timer, pipe wrap, efficient showerheads and aerators and, where the thermostat qualifies, a smart one. It is small, and it is also the only way into SaskEnergy's free furnace.

What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

Nothing is paid to you. The upgrades are installed free, and SaskPower puts the saving at up to $230 a year on your bills.

What you receive

  • A visit from a home energy coach, with tips on cutting your bills
  • LED light bulbs
  • A block heater timer and pipe wrap
  • High-efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators
  • A drying rack
  • A smart thermostat, if your current one qualifies for an upgrade

Where the application goes

One online form, then a wait.

The thing most pages get wrong

This is the door to SaskEnergy's Heating Affordability Program, the only free furnace in the province. There is no separate application for that: the energy coach checks the furnace during this visit, and SaskEnergy invites the households that qualify.
