TVA Home Uplift open

Administered by TVA and participating local power companies.

Home Uplift gives income-eligible customers of participating power companies free home energy upgrades averaging $10,000, such as a new or repaired HVAC unit, attic and wall insulation, appliances and electric water heaters. TVA publishes no income table; your local power company's does.

What it pays

No published cap — and that is the honest answer

TVA describes an average of $10,000 in free upgrades, not a cap. Chattanooga's EPB describes the same program as 'worth up to $10,000'. The work comes from a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR evaluation of the home.

savings
TVA says participants save about $500 a year on average; EPB says over $400.

The thing most pages get wrong

$10,000 is TVA's average, not a promise or a limit, and EPB's page calls it 'worth up to $10,000'. EPB's page also shows two different income tables, $70,000 and $60,150 for a family of four, with no date on either; confirm the line with your power company.

Renters

Home Uplift's own eligibility list does not mention renters. EPB's page asks any applicant, 'homeowner or renter', who reports zero income to file a zero-income form, which suggests EPB takes renters' applications; ask your power company.
