Dominion Energy Virginia home rebates (water heaters and Home Energy Evaluation) open

Administered by Dominion Energy Virginia, through domsavings.com and participating contractors.

Dominion pays $250 or $400 for a heat pump water heater, often as an instant rebate, and $300 toward a variable speed pool pump. Its Home Energy Evaluation pays rebates for heat pump upgrades, insulation, air and duct sealing after an assessment by a participating contractor, but publishes no amounts, and does not allow fuel switching.

The thing most pages get wrong

Dominion's own main page says 'Get a rebate of up to $500 on eligible heat pump water heaters'. Its program site pays $250 for 40 to 59 gallons and $400 for 60 gallons or more, and nowhere $500.

No heat pump amounts, and no switching

The Home Energy Evaluation forms pay for a 'Heat Pump Upgrade' but say 'Fuel switching is not allowed', and the amounts sit in a program measures chart that is not on the program site. Ask the contractor for the figure in writing before the work.

Bill credits for using less

Peak Time Rebates pay $1.25 for each kilowatt-hour saved during peak demand, and Smart Thermostat Rewards pays $25 to enroll and $25 a year.
