Seattle City Light heat pump and water heater rebates open

Administered by Seattle City Light, with the City of Seattle's HomeWise program for income-qualified households.

Seattle City Light takes $300 to $600 off an efficient air-source heat pump through the contractor's distributor, and pays $750 for a heat pump water heater, as an instant coupon, through a contractor, or by mail. Income-qualified households can get a free heat pump and insulation through the city's HomeWise program.

The thing most pages get wrong

City Light's heat pump money is a modest $300 to $600, and it reaches you only if the contractor passes it on. The bigger Seattle figures, $2,000 and $6,000, are the city's separate Clean Heat rebates, and they apply only to homes that heat with oil.

The same tiers as Avista

City Light's $300, $400 and $600 tiers by HSPF2 rating match Avista's in eastern Washington: both run through the same regional distributor program.

HomeWise's lines are generous

HomeWise's 2026-27 limits run from $81,700 for one person to $154,000 for eight, owners or renters, inside the city.
