Focus on Energy insulation and air sealing rebates open

Administered by Focus on Energy, through participating insulation Trade Ally contractors.

Focus on Energy pays $650 to $850 for attic insulation, $850 to $1,475 for air sealing and $575 for wall insulation, the higher amounts at lower incomes, through a participating insulation contractor, in Wisconsin homes heated at least 51% by a participating utility's gas or electricity. Homes heated with oil, propane or wood are not eligible.

The thing most pages get wrong

Focus's insulation rebates need two participating utilities, not one: 'a project site must receive service from a participating electric utility and a participating natural gas utility at the time of purchase and installation', and at least 51% of the home's heat must come from one of them. A home heated with propane gets nothing here, whoever supplies its electricity.

Income tiers raise the rebate

Air sealing pays $850 above 150% of area median income, $1,160 from 80% to 150% and $1,475 below 80%. Income qualification is done with Focus before the work.

Do-it-yourself counts too

Homeowners who insulate and air seal their own attic can claim $200.
