Banff energy rebates open

Administered by the Town of Banff.

The Town of Banff pays for energy saved rather than equipment bought: $125 for each gigajoule a year a retrofit saves, up to a typical new home's rating, and $250 a gigajoule beyond it. It also pays $450 a kilowatt for solar, up to $9,000, and post-purchase rebates such as $750 for a heat pump and $100 to $200 a window.

The thing most pages get wrong

Banff's financing page caps a rebate its own guide does not. The Clean Energy Improvement Program page says participants "may qualify for up to $20,000 in additional funding" through the Deep Retrofit Program; the programme page and its calculation guide set a rate per gigajoule and state no maximum. For a CEIP borrower, the rebate is applied to reduce the loan, not paid to you.

Banff's loan, for the rest

Banff's Clean Energy Improvement Program lends up to $50,000 at a fixed 3% over up to 20 years, for projects of at least $7,500, with a $500 tax incentive on completion. The $500 furnace rebate was discontinued in March 2025.
