Energy Efficiency Loan Program open

Administered by Finance PEI, on efficiencyPEI approval.

A repayable loan, not a grant, for homeowners already approved under a PEI rebate programme. It exists to solve the timing problem every rebate creates: the work must be paid for before the rebate arrives. Any rebate you then earn is applied straight to the loan as a lump sum reduction.

What disqualifies you

The rules people find out about after the work is done.

  • Rental, seasonal and recreational properties
  • New home construction
  • Projects already completed - you must apply before any work begins
  • Business projects

Where the application goes

efficiencyPEI approves the work; Finance PEI lends the money. Both, in that order, before anything starts.

Energy Efficiency Loan ProgramGet the project pre-approved by efficiencyPEI, then apply to Finance PEI online or by submitting the EELP application form.

The thing most pages get wrong

The money never reaches you. Loan proceeds go directly to your Network of Excellence contractor, and any efficiencyPEI rebate you earn goes directly to Finance PEI to pay the loan down. You are arranging the work, not handling the funds.

And the second thing

One loan at a time. You may reapply only after the first is fully repaid - so a household planning insulation this year and windows next year has to choose which one to finance.

Status note

Finance PEI accepts applications until the allocated budget is fully committed or the underlying rebate programmes are discontinued. There is no published closing date, and no published budget figure either.
